Trend Alert: Peplum.

Another trend that most of you would have anticipated on the list of 2012 trends - peplum. The peplum, having originated back in the 19th century, is the extra flounce at the waist line and can be found in the form of dresses, tops and even outerwear like jackets or coats.

The trend was big back in 2008/2009 with the likes of Christian Dior, Jonathan Saunders and Roland Mouret, just to name a few, having presented several peplum pieces in their runway collections. Now the trend is back with a bang and this elegant and feminine style has been well received all around Hollywood.

Trend Alert: Printed Pants

Printed pants - either you love 'em or you hate 'em. Personally, it took awhile for me to swallow the trend, but I've grown to love it, but have yet to muster up the courage to wear them. More importantly, it has been rather hard to find a pair that I would actually wear out, until I regret not buying the navy pair with printed red and white dots at H&M. Argh. The agony of passing up such a great pair at a good deal.

The trousers version of the trend is a great way to pump up your regular corporate outfits. Just keep the rest of your outfit simple and pull the look together with a great fitting blazer and you're off to brighten your boss' day at work!
Fashion guru Olivia Palermo graced the Topshop Unique show in a Topshop bright yellow top and floral pants
Jessica Alba in Erdem Connelly floral trousers while making her way to a talkshow
Beyonce brightens up everyone's day, post-pregnancy, in colorful pants and bright yellow pumps
Kylie Jenner in a pair of tribal print bottoms

For a more casual look, pick a pair of printed pants in a less structured cut. Fabric with greater movement signals a more relaxed vibe. Casually rolling up the trouser legs also helps.

You can take baby steps into this trend by trying out the legging or denim versions. They now come in all kinds of prints, from tribal to floral and more!
