My Garden..or appreciating the little things

This afternoon, I had about half an hour relaxing in the garden. From where I was sitting, this is what I could see.

The allium (is that right?)
The Clematis
The Courgettes
The grass that needs cutting
The strange yellow flowers that come every year, but no one can tell me what they are called
The bumble bee's on the lavender
The flowering oregano
And more bee's.

All taken without getting out of the patio chair. My garden isn't big, but it is lovely.

What can you see from your patio chair?

Our Veg Patch

We have finally, after at least a couple of years of talking about it, built a tiny vegetable patch at the bottom of the garden. It's not big it's not pretty, but it made my daughters day.

I am not sure it is sunny enough but fingers crossed, with a following wind and some of the compost from the composter we planted potatoes, garlic and red onions today. I plan courgettes in pots again as they were a great success last year - and they look really pretty and tomatoes in a growbag as normal. But where can I put the carrots?

We also planted this today.

This is a bird cherry tree. Apparently the blossom smells of sticky almonds (yum).

Progress reports on both the veg patch and the tree to follow. I bet you can't wait! It's thrilling stuff.

What is it about getting older and starting to see the appeal in gardening? I wouldn't go as far as saying I  enjoy it but I do take pride in the end results.

My 3 Best Sunday Moments

Today has been a good day...

Best bits were:

  1. My Mum coming for Sunday dinner and genuinely enjoying the pudding I made (Vanilla Panacotta with blueberry sauce..just in case you were wondering).

  2. Sitting outside with my 2 year old on my lap, just chilling, watching bees collecting pollen on the lavender, whilst she spread her toes as the breeze caught her feet.

  3. Eating the courgettes for dinner that I grew from seed...and they tasted good.

What were your 3 best?

PS - The photo is of Lola (my two year old), having one of her best moments today.
