The royal couple departed England for Canada on June 30th and Duchess Catherine was in a navy blue shift by Roland Mouret and a matching blazer by Smythe, a Canadian label based in Toronto. The gorgeous brunette completed her look with a Mulberry arm candy and a pair of pointy pumps by Manolo Blahnik (boutique can be found in Marina Bay Sands).
Upon landing in Ottawa, Canada, Duchess Catherine emerged with Prince William in the 'Cecille' dress by Erdem - the label is by Canadian-born designer Erdem Moralioglu. The laced dress is part of Erdem's 2012 Resort Collection. She finished off the look with nude heels by L.K. Bennett and a nude clutch which she was previously seen carrying while catching a Wimbledon match (third picture, below).
I absolutely love her half up-do! It's something different from her usual looks without comprising the aura of elegance and class.
At a reception where the royal couple met young Canadian volunteers, both the Prince and his Duchess changed into something less formal and Catherine was seen in her favourite Issa bird-print wrap dress. The Duchess has been seen in this dress twice before, once being the day before her royal wedding to the Prince (second picture, below) and the other, back in 2006.
On Canada Day, Duchess Catherine was decked in my favourite look of hers so far, complete with Canada's national flag colours. Being a frugal fashionista, Duchess Catherine re-wore her Reiss 'Nanette' dress, which she wore for her official engagement photographs (second picture, below). Adding the splash of red to her look was her lovely red headpiece complete with maple leaves detail, a fan-shaped clutch by Anya Hindmarch (that's totally cute!) and a pair of red square-cut court heels. Not forgetting, of course, the maple leave brooch that was borrowed from Prince William's grandmother, aka Queen Elizabeth. The outfit is just so chic and I love the pop of red against her classic cream sheath!
In the evening, celebrations held at Parliament Hill drew Canada Day to a close on July 1. While Prince William loosened up by loosing the tie, his elegant princess changed into a purple number by Issa. Catherine kept the brooch on, though, as she pulled her hair into a bun. Looked like they had a good time, love their broad, simultaneous smiles.
On their final day in Ottawa, the royal pair performed the tree planting ceremony at Rideau Hall. While at it, they also visited the tree that Prince William's parents (Prince Charles and Princess Diana) planted when they last visited the place back in 1983 when Prince William turned one. I wonder what went through Prince William's mind when he was looking at the tree - 1st July was also his late mother's birthday. This first picture here just pains me, looking at Prince William's solemn face.
Duchess Catherine was pretty hands on, picking up the shovel and dug through the soil a little, and she did it so elegantly in her grey Catherine Walker dress, that features unique collar details on the back. The same dress was worn as the couple left Ottawa for Quebec.
Carrying on their tour, Catherine landed in Quebec City in another fitting laced dress by Erdem, only this time, in the Duchess' favourite colour - blue and the piece is from the label's Pre-Fall 2011 Collection. She recycles her nude L.K. Bennett heels with this look.
After a day in Quebec, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took off to Prince Edward Island. This time, Duchess Catherine appeared in a nude scoop neck dress by British label, Joseph, pulling over a light peach tweed jacket.
I love how the Prince would occasionally place his hand on her back, it's really assuring for Kate, I believe
Thinking about how Prince William might be missing his mother on her birthday as he looked at how tall the tree that his parents had planted when he was just a year old had grown, I was brought to my own memories of having him as my teenage crush back in those days. Here are some pictures of the Prince who will always remain as my ideal Prince Charming:
The adorable Prince William held by Princess Diana
He definitely has his mother's looks. And good ones at that. He looks so good in suits and his little smirk
Looking like every girl's crush while at school
A man who can make a sweater look good, anytime
A guy good at sports, cooks and can make a girl laugh - what's not to like?
He really seems like such a great guy, a normal fun-loving man on the inside and a serious one who can handle the media frenzy and public attention on the outside. I'm so glad he found his true love in Kate Middleton, who probably grounds him from all the fuss, and who has willingly stood by his side, tackling all the media attention on her as well. I can't imagine all the etiquette classes and what-nots that she had to go through to be a part of the royal family, but she's doing a great job. I also wish people would stop talking about how Prince William is going bald, 'cause I'd rather choose a man who is everything that I mentioned above and balding, over one who is balding with none of the above traits. If he's good enough for Kate Middleton, he's good enough for anyone - he's definitely still the ideal prince to me.
If you have the time, do check out some heart-warming pictures here, when Princes William and Harry performed some charity duties in South Africa.
