Red Carpet: Golden Globes 2011.

The Golden Globes took place this morning (Singapore time) and I missed the entire show, including the red carpet scene. But a preview of the outfits seen at the event proved that it wasn't disappointing, although it wasn't a very colourful night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

New mum Amy Adams showed off her post-pregnancy body in a navy laser-cut dress by Marchesa. The colour worked great against her porcelain, light skin tone. Finishing off with a black clutch, the look was simple and elegant on the Enchanted actress. However, I do hope that someday she will stun us all in an unexpected look.

Australian-born actress Nicole Kidman turned up for the event with her country-singer hubby Keith Urban. Nicole flaunted her towering height in a straight-cut, sequinned number from Prada. She and Amy Adams are pretty similar in a lot of ways, both are tall and feminine ladies with a very pale skin tone. I wish they could both work with more colourful dresses. Nonetheless, Nicole looked very classy in this gown which features a little bow at the waistline and some turquoise details on the shoulder strap. Very elegant.

British chick Kelly Osbourne continues to look her happy, confident-self as she strode across the red carpet in a black gown by Zac Posen. The gown has a coloured panel running across to the hem, to which she matched with her Kimberly McDonald jewels. I love it that she always look so radiant but I think she wears black way too often. She should start exploring other colours which I believe she will still look amazing in.

Also in Zac Posen was Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria who attended without her soon-to-be ex-husband Tony Parker. Sadly, she does look less like her chirpy self on the red carpet as she usually would be. I wonder if the colour black had anything to do with what she is feeling inside or is going through right now. She definitely deserves better than a man who can cheat on such a pretty and hot woman like Eva. On this night, Eva's look was simple and with minimal jewellery and a plain black clutch. She still looks as hot as ever.

Another Hollywood star healing from a heartbreak is Sandra Bullock, who looked equally unhappy while the photogs snapped away. The Proposal actress wore a soft pink embellished gown by Jenny Packham and she looked stunning. This is very different from her purple Bottega Venetta look which earned her one of the best dressed title last year, but it exudes greater femininity and reveals the soft side of the actress. I'm loving the blowout and her bangs, together with the nude make-up, the hairstyle definitely makes Sandra look younger. I hope this look stays on her for awhile more.

Several Marchesa gowns were spotted on the red carpet to the Golden Globes 2011, besides Amy Adam's. First there was country singer and Burlesque actress Julianne Hough. While her beau Ryan Seacrest tended to his E! duties interviewing celebrities, Julianne, who played the pretty brunette Georgia in Burlesque with the crazy dance moves, worked her black high-cut number with neckline details. This Resort 2011 collection dress looked amazing on Julianne, who wore it with her hair up. I love everything about this and it is definitely one of my favourites for the night.

Tron: Legacy actress Olivia Wilde was also wearing Marchesa that night. It was a sparkly strapless piece with a colour gradient that darkens from silver to black from the bustline to the hem. Olivia playfully showed off her gold Louboutins on her covered feet. Hmm, the dress and shoes don't quite go, do they? But since it stays covered, and they're Louboutins, who cares?

Germany-born model Heidi Klum walked in with singer hubby Seal as she flaunt her slender stems in a high-slit colourful dress by Marc Jacobs. I wasn't expecting Heidi to show up in such a casual dress since the Golden Globes is such a formal affair, so I was a little taken aback. She does look great I guess but I'm gonna say no because it was inappropriate. Her thick-heeled strappy shoes, which I don't really fancy, are also by Marc Jacobs.

Precious actress Gabourey Sidibe also looked a little under-dressed for the event in her Marc Bouwer maxi dress. While it appears to be covered in glitter, the print and colour just kind of made it inappropriate and too casual for the big night. I've seen Gabourey in nicer outfits but this just isn't right, although I see that she has noticed purple is a good colour that works well against her dark skin tone.

Leaving the twins to the nanny to attend the Golden Globes was Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony. J.Lo was in a white number by Zuhair Murad that comes with a clear embellished shawl that helps adorn the plain dress. This figure-hugging gown certainly accentuated J.Lo's curves. It's actually one of the looks I prefer on Mrs Anthony 'cause it's not so loud and it looked absolutely elegant. She completed the look with matching diamond earrings and bracelets, as well as a Swarovski clutch.

Hollywood's power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie strolled in hand-in-hand, with Angelina stealing the limelight in a green long-sleeved gown by Atelier Versace. Angelina always manages to make a statement with her gowns and this time was no exception. Her hair's barely styled and there's almost no jewellery and she just shines on the red carpet working one of the hardest pieces to wear. Hats off to the strong woman.

Also wearing Atelier Versace was January Jones. This just wasn't right. Okay, the hair and make-up's fine but a cut-out dress on one of Hollywood's biggest nights? January Jones failed to dazzle me this time round with a bad choice of outfit, unlike how she worked the stunning blue Versace gown at the Emmy's last year. If she had wanted to leave an impression with this look, she's got it - but probably for the wrong reasons. She has, however, managed to work the vintage look, which would have made her shine if she had chosen a vintage-looking dress instead.

Easy A's Emma Stone was minimalist chic when she walked in wearing this peach Calvin Klein dress. She's been looking pretty good lately in front of the cameras at various events as she continues her stylish streak onto the Golden Globes red carpet. It's like an entirely new her, I could barely recognise her in her blonde up-do with this bright dress. She does look pretty good here and I'm looking forward to seeing more of her looks in the near future. Keep on a lookout for her stint in the upcoming Spiderman movies in which she stars across Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) as the new spidey!

Glee actresses took to the night in their respective gorgeous looks. Leading actress Lea Michele wore a pink ruffle dress by Oscar de la Renta. I actually like this look on her, compared to her straight locks with the bangs draping over her forehead. She definitely suits the sweet, girl-next-door look better than she does the diva. Lea rocked the elaborate dress without accessorizing much and I'm loving the permed hairstyle. I really hope she keeps to this look.

Lea's Glee co-star Dianna Agron went with a nude strapless dress by J. Mendel. Aww, doesn't she look so sweet! I love everything about her, and this look, of course. It's simple yet elegant. The necklace by Cathy Waterman just worked wonders for the dress. And the vintage curled locks pinned with a butterfly accessory! Ooh, what's not to like?

Jane Lynch, who took home the Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Mini Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, looked fabulous in a black Ali Rahimi gown. The shiny black dress features some embellishments along the neckline and feather details close to the hem. I see black covered-toe shoes peeking from underneath. I actually hope she had opted for something strappy and non-black instead. And FYI, Glee won Best Television Series, Comedy or Musical, while Chris Colfer was Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Mini Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. Congrats!

Cher's solo in Burlesque "You Haven't Seen The Last of Me" won Best Original Song - Motion Picture and I was super happy on hearing that! While I didn't see Cher on the red carpet, which means she probably didn't attend the event, Christina Aguilera was there with new squeeze Matt Rutler. The songbird wore a nude, black-laced number by Zuhair Murad. The mermaid-cut gown looked fab on the singer, which I thought was a good change from the glittery gowns. Surprisingly she also cut down on the bling-bling and drew attention to her bright red lips.

Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester was in a Burberry long-sleeved gown on the red carpet, toting a small evening bag by Louis Vuitton, with the dress' slit showing off her strappy Jimmy Choos. I'm just glad she didn't choose anything crazy or over-revealing. I prefer her like this, down-to-earth looks and girly. It's a pretty dress but I think the dress is wearing her more than she's wearing it. The puffy sleeves aren't really working but overall, it's an okay-look.

One of the focuses of the night was probably Michael Douglas' return to the red carpet with wife Catherine Zeta Jones. Michael has been undergoing chemotherapy to treat an advanced stage four throat cancer previously and when he presented the award for Best Motion Picture - Drama to The Social Network, the actor received a standing ovation from the audience. Catherine, who looked fabulous in a Monique Lhuillier ballgown that night, was there every inch of the way supporting his husband, who is now cancer-free. I must say the couple look gorgeous and the love between them could definitely be felt. It is also extremely comforting to see Michael Douglas looking more radiant again.

Tina Fey looked better than ever in a L'Wren Scott midnight blue gown that features ruffle sleeves and a deep-V neckline. I actually liked Tina in this look which suits her so much better than other outfits I've seen her in on the red carpet. The 40-year old actress completed her look with matching accessories by Lorraine Schwartz and a Swarovski velvet clutch. This is certainly the path to go for Tina - womanly and elegant, not mid-length dresses.

Resident Evil hot chick Milla Jovovich presented at the Golden Globes wearing a Giorgio Armani Privé off-shoulder gown in silver. The Ukrainian-born model/actress wore her dyed locks in a side-swept hairstyle and her pink lips complemented her snow-white complexion. The mermaid-cut dress played up her broad sexy shoulders, with folds revealing some embellished crystals that make the dress look really unique. I love the look on Milla, very pretty, though totally different from the Alice she plays in Resident Evil, which is my recent movie fetish 'cause Milla Jovovich is too damn cool with guns - her co-star Ali Larter comes next in line.

English actress Helen Mirren looked Queen-worthy in her Badgley Mischka gown with shoulder cut-outs. The gown really flatters the 65 year-old actress, making her glow with such youthful radiance. Helen cleverly adorns her neck with a Cartier diamond necklace and matched her outfit with a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch. Helen stuns every year at the Golden Globes red carpet and she certainly sets the record straight that even when age catches up on you, distasteful dressing doesn't necessary follow.

Modern Family's Sofia Vergara looked sharp in her bright fuschia Vera Wang dress complete with glistening David Webb jewellery. Sometimes I think Sofia looks way too similar each time she appears at these major events and she should start experimenting with different looks from neck up. Seeing her long wavy hair is like déjà vu but I'm just glad the Columbian actress continues trying on gowns of differing colours.

30 Rock star Jane Krakowski showed off her ballooning tummy in a silk Badgley Mischka gown in a beautiful shade of blue. I love the colour of her dress and how the lace lines the opening slit that reveals her silver Casadei platform pumps. I just hope those heels didn't pose any risks to her baby 'cause those are some crazy shoes to walk in. Jane also matched her single-shoulder gown with statement blue-green earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.

Megan Fox looked sweet and subtly sexy in a soft pink Armani Privé dress that comes with an Swarovski-embellished shoulder strap and a bandage bodice. The Jennifer's Body actress, who attended the show with her husband Brian Austin Green, showed off her legs and to-die-for Brian Atwood champagne peep-toes through a high slit, finishing off her look with a clutch by Roger Vivier. OMG I really love those Brian Atwood shoes! They look so soft yet attention-grabbing with the studded heels. Megan Fox is really owning the look, evidence that she can juggle many different looks. She was one of my "best-dressed" for the night, next to Julianne Hough.

Christina Hendricks showed up in a red (again?!) Romona Keveza gown with giant ruffles running across her chest from her left shoulder. Is there some obsession with red dresses here to match with her red hair, 'cause I don't see a different look each time Christina Hendricks appears on the red carpet, at all. It is honestly getting boring, period.

Blue proved to be a great colour for actress/singer Mandy Moore when she strode in wearing a chiffon mermaid-cut dress designed by Monique Lhuillier, one of my favourite designers. The gown is very flattering and this is the best I've seen of Mandy Moore in quite awhile. She still look better in longer hair.

Anne Hathaway, one of the nominees for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical for her act in Love & Other Drugs, lost out to . While she was close to being one of the actresses who made a statement on the red carpet this time, her dress reminds me too much of the bronze sequinned Vivienne Westwood strapless she wore to the premiere of Alice in Wonderland back in February 2010. This time, it was also a sequinned dress in pretty much the same colour, but in the form of a long-sleeve, backless floor-length gown by Armani Privé .

Julianne Moore, the latest face of Bulgari, wowed the crowd once again in shocking pink as she wore her Lanvin to the night's affair. Wearing Bulgari jewels and toting the label's gold evening clutch, Julianne was certainly unafraid to show her bold choice of colour, as she did at the Rome Film Festival (also wearing Lanvin). 2010 was a great year for Moore, in terms of making fashion statements with her countless outfits, so I'm hoping to see more of the well-dressed her in 2011.

Equally unafraid of brights was Claire Danes who hit the red carpet with husband Hugh Dancy. Like Emma Stone, Claire picked a girly-hued halter dress from the Calvin Klein Collection. Claire Danes just looks so chic without much effort. She kept the accessories minimal with earrings and a metal cuff by Fred Leighton.

Natalie Portman, who bagged the Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama award for her performance in Black Swan (a must-watch!), was a knock-out in her Viktor & Rolf gown. The strapless dress featured a rose detail at the bust and Natalie cleverly matched it with a a red evening clutch by Dior and red lipstick. To top it off, the Harvard graduate accessorized with Tiffany & Co. jewellery. Congrats to her big win and for looking like a winner! She made it to my top 3 best dressed for the night (with Megan Fox and Julianne Hough).

Country singer Carrie Underwood looked elegant in a sequinned number by Badgley Mischka paired with a metallic clutch bag. I'm not really feeling the look, 'cause it just looked rather normal. Perhaps Carrie couldn't quite play up her look since she wasn't one of the award show's main contenders but I would like to say that I personally prefer seeing her in some coloured-gowns. Something like the bright red Georges Chakra dress she wore to the American Country Awards or the midnight-blue Talbot Runoff tiered gown at the Country Music Association Awards 2010. Nonetheless it is an okay look for the night.

Michelle Williams looked boring in her Valentino side-ruffle dress with no or little accessories. Her slouchy shoulders also make her look like she isn't comfortable where she is. That really made her standout among her peers who were all dressed to the nines. I didn't like the look at all, she probably should've went with something black instead, since the nude floral gown seem to blend in too much with her new blonde locks. Contrast would be key here.

Catwoman Halle Berry's look on the carpet was rather unexpected for me. I was counting on Halle to bring a huge amount of glam to the Golden Globes in an elaborate ballgown but all we got was this corset-style Nina Ricci short dress featuring a sheer train. I didn't think the look was interesting, but her body still looks amazing, nonetheless. Harry Winston jewels complete Halle Berry's outfit.

Mila Kunis looked stunning in her emerald Vera Wang single-shoulder dress as she strode across the red carpet. I love the crepe-folds on her dress which serves to keep the eyes of the observer moving and the giant detail on her shoulder is subtle yet statement-making. She certainly reminds me a lot of Marion Cotillard, especially when this look somehow reminded me of Marion's look when the French actress attended the Golden Globes last year in Christian Dior. Maybe it's the colour, or maybe they just give me a similar feeling.

Worst dressed at the event would go to Helena Bonham Carter, hands down. The Harry Potter actress looked a mess showing up in this Vivienne Westwood number with a hair mesh and mismatched shoes. What's up with those?! I'm not sure this is the best way to draw attention to yourself or attempt to make a statement. This look is a plain disrespect for the Golden Globes.

Looks like both Jennifers are the only ones in white this year! As reported above, J.Lo was wearing white and so did Jennifer Love Hewitt of The Ghost Whisperer. She sported a white Romona Keveza dress that has a rose-like bustline and an embellished waistline. I don't really agree with her Sang A clutch that appears too over-sized for the look.

So who was your best dressed at the Golden Globes?
