Just got back from the Land of Good Food and Satisfying Shopping. Was a little disappointed that I came back with so little stuff but I guess I identify better with US labels and fashion.
H&M was good as usual, always where I get my accessories at low prices. The clothes were pretty good but some a little outside of my pathetic budget for the 5-day trip. So all I got besides a couple of bohemian bracelets and rings (I live in accessories!), I got myself a patterned jumper and a pair of wooden-sole chunky heels. Got a top and a floral dress for mom but I guess I'll get to wear them too. :) Bought a cheap leopard print straw tote as well, good for casual days and a go-to bag for the beach! To my surprise, I saw Selena Gomez hanging out with Justin Bieber and the very same bag I got!
I wonder if H&M will be as good when it finally gets here.
Oh yeah, I managed to find AE but besides a pair of too-damn-good jeggings, it was rather disappointing. AE jeans fit me perfectly (I love that their sizing comes from 00-16) but their styles of shorts weren't so nice this time round and I have way too many pairs of denim. Wasn't interested in getting tees, but I did manage to walk out of AE with my utility jacket!! I've been eyeing this for quite awhile and previously it was priced at SGD100+. So how could I not buy it when it was at a discount?! :)
Cheap shopping didn't do me much good since HK is mostly Taiwan-inspired, so it's all down to dainty designs and tons of floral stuff that aren't for me. I did however get a floral maxi dress from one of these cheap "bugis-street-like" stores since I've been hunting for one for forever.
Was pretty much a touristy trip for me since I brought friends around as a tour guide and translator, so I did experience Hong Kong in a new way than I usually do, like having to do my own bargaining and navigation. I've never gotten so sick of dim sum before having to eat it twice within 4 days. But nonetheless, it was enjoyable, just like any other trip back to my home for me.
I miss that place like crazy, now that I'm back in this hot toaster with one season all year round. No more having Gong Cha and supper at 12 midnight. No more shopping at 11.30pm. No more Starbucks up to 12 midnight. No more cheap shopping and food without the killer 10% service charge and 7% GST. No more breathtaking hill-top views and across-the-harbour scenery. If you're happy with Singapore, you really haven't seen the best of Hong Kong.
