Royal Wedding - The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge: William and Kate.

The big wedding that got everybody talking since late last year has finally come and gone. Probably one of the most widely anticipated event of the century, Prince William and Kate Middleton have finally tied the knot with millions of watchers across the globe, thanks to new media.

While this is probably old news for most of us, since I hadn't had the time to blog about this, I'd still like to bring some pictures forward and highlight certain events of the grand wedding held at Westminster Abbey in London on the 29th of April, Friday.

As guests piled into the Church in their tuxedos and elaborate headpieces and hats, David and Victoria Beckham were one of the most highly anticipated amongst them all. Besides Princess Diana's good friend Elton John and his partner, of course. (BTW, I spotted Rowan Atkinson, aka Mr. Bean too)
The soccer player was decked in a Ralph Lauren tux complete with a long-tailed morning coat and a top hat. His pregnant wife was wearing her own design and sky-high stiletto pumps. They look absolutely appropriate without grabbing too much attention. Great job.

So the excitement began as Prince William and Prince Harry left their residence, the Clarence House for Westminster Abbey. While I'm not a fan of Prince Harry, unlike Prince William whom I had a crush on back in those days, I thought he looked pretty handsome and smart in his uniform.
The Bentley Limousines that took the Princes and the bride and her father to Westminster Abbey looked sooooo luxurious! I love the wide windows!
Then Kate, or rather, Catherine Middleton arrived wearing a gorgeous Alexander McQueen laced gown designed by Sarah Burton. It was such an apt choice, to pay a tribute to one of Britain's most renowned designers. It was really a pity that the man himself had left the world just one year before the royal wedding. But I would say Sarah Burton did a great job designing that classic and time-less gown for the princess-to-be. It was also modern and feminine without being inappropriate. (A better look at the dress in pictures coming later in the post.)
Having walked down the aisle accompanied by her father, Catherine Middleton joined Prince William and his brother at the altar. I read somewhere that Kate had kept her wedding dress a secret to give William a surprise on the wedding day itself. That probably explains why Prince Harry was caught turning around and taking several glances at Kate, after which William turned to get a look of his bride himself. The Prince also grabbed an opportunity to whisper a few lines to Kate, one of which was "You look beautiful" according to some lip-readers. Now, THAT'S sweet. :)
After the procession, the newly weds left Westminster Abbey in the 1902 State Landau carriage. The couple was headed to the Buckingham Palace for the wedding reception.
After the reception, the couple and the rest of the royal family, including Kate's parents, brother James and sister Pippa, made a grand appearance on the balcony of the Buckingham Palace. The newly weds didn't disappoint the crowd and endearing fans with not just one, but TWO kisses!
The family also stayed on to watch the flypast by the Royal Air Force and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight before returning into the Palace. Later, the couple rode in an Aston Martin, with William taking the wheel. I love how they added ribbons and balloons to the vintage car and the car plate which says "Just Wed". :)
Kate Middleton, officially the Duchess of Cambridge, wore her second wedding dress later in the day. Another pretty dress designed by Sarah Burton, the gown was a clean slate embellished with jewels to create a waistline.
I just adore this couple so much and I wish their marriage would last forever.
